Jazz is America's true art form, and in the history of this music, one period stands out as a magnificent "Golden Age"...the era in which Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Hoagy Carmichael, Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer and many others were creating music played by the great, big bands of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Harry James, the Dorseys, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and so many more.
That timeless music lives and thrives today in vibrant North San Diego County, thanks to The Big Band & Jazz Hall of Fame, a nonprofit foundation formed in 1995 to preserve and promote greater appreciation of big band
and jazz music!
Rhythmic Big Band sounds, as originally written and arranged are eloquently recreated by the Big Band & Jazz Hall of Fame Orchestra - 17 skilled musicians and two fine vocalists, each with decades of musical experience and a colorful history. Along with exceptional guest performers, the band attracts a wide audience of jazz/bigband music enthusiasts at concerts, dances, festivals and special events.
The BBJHF Foundation, supports music education in North County schools and awards scholarships to worthy, promising students in local high school band programs through proceeds received from performances, CD sales and donations.
